cantaloupe on purple

I loved this piece I did a digital study painting of it.  I tried to get a textured feel from some brush manipulation, but it doesn't compare to traditional.   I do have a question though. 

How do you get that amazing glow around the cantaloupe and the bowl?  I tried and tried to recreate that effect but with poor results.  I have seen this glow effect in many of your works and I have to say it is stunning every time.  Thanks for the great work, I am definitely going to do studies on more of your work and maybe try to start setting up my own still life compositions.
