I'm curious how you go about photographing your oil paintings. I myself have a hard time photographing without getting glares. though my camera is terrible also.

I have a kinda shitty camera too, but it still works. Here's my previous answer to this same question:

Use tripod with timer and no flash. Try to photograph @ midmorning with only north light. Angle your art as close to vertical as you can. Position your camera higher than your artwork so it is aiming slightly down to reduce glare, then fix the distorted angle later in photoshop with 'free transform'. Look from your cameras position and adjust the tilt and position of art until there is no glare (look in the dark areas of your painting). In photoshop I square up the art and then adjust contrast and color balance until it looks like the original.
